Courier, Central Receiving

Key Responsibilities

Shipping and Receiving:

  • Receive, process, track, and deliver freight shipments, office supplies, and purchase orders to campus departments as scheduled.
  • Prepare and complete documentation for shipments, inventory, and deliveries, followed by data entry into systems like Excel and Access.

Operations and Equipment:

  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and delivery vans safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain and schedule routine maintenance for department vehicles and equipment.
  • Keep the warehouse, delivery vehicles, and work areas clean and organized.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels for forms, supplies, and other items.
  • Respond to inquiries via Central Receiving’s email and phone.

Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional service to a variety of campus customers and vendors.
  • Assist in sorting, processing, and distributing campus mail and student packages (UPS, FedEx, etc.).

Administrative Support:

  • Contribute to monthly reports, journal entries, and departmental data tracking.
  • Assist with cross-functional duties within Distribution Services as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Forklift operator experience or ability to certify within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, bend, and climb stairs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, including spreadsheets and email.
  • Customer-focused attitude with flexibility in a service-oriented environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in shipping, receiving, or distribution services.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.

Work Schedule and Environment

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.


Work Environment: Hands-on role involving frequent lifting, bending, and use of equipment.
Physical Requirements: The position requires handling materials up to 50 lbs and navigating stairs and warehouse conditions.
