Assistant Director of Residence Life
The University of Evansville is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Director of Residence Life to join our Student Life team. This full-time, live-on position plays a pivotal role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential experience for our students. As the second-in-command within the Office of Residence Life, you will oversee critical operations, provide leadership, and ensure seamless support for the department's housing management and student development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Residence Life Management:
- Assist in managing housing operations, student billing, facilities, and budgets.
- This position provides direct supervision of Apartment and Townhouse style housing (400 student residents).
- Oversee student payroll, digital resources, and department records.
- Provide leadership for student staff supervision, including Residential Student Association (RSA) advising.
- Serve as on-site backup for behavioral and crisis response situations.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Supervise and support residential staff, fostering a strong sense of community.
- Work closely with campus committees and participate in key university events.
- Rotate on-call responsibilities with Residential Coordinators for after-hours resident concerns.
Program Development:
- Support the implementation of a residential curriculum to enhance the student experience.
- Engage in student group advising and maintain visibility through evening and weekend hours as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2–3 years of direct Residence Life experience.
- Working knowledge of eRezLife, Ellucian Colleague, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong supervisory, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to address emergencies, make quick decisions, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Housing Operations Management or a related field.
- Experience implementing residential curriculum programs.
- Familiarity with social media platforms for communication and engagement.
Work Schedule and Environment
Typical Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (summer hours: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with Fridays until 4:00 PM).
Additional Availability:
Evening and weekend hours for events, meetings, and after-hours student support.
Participation in staff training, check-in/check-out periods, and occasional travel for conferences.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to climb stairs, manage emergency evacuations, and handle high-stress situations.
- May lift up to 20 lbs during normal activities.
- Strong decision-making, public speaking, and data interpretation skills required.
